8 Jackets Every Man Should Own

Representing warmth and security, a jacket is the first piece that screams style and the final piece that is carefully worn. Here are 8 jackets every bloke should have in his wardrobe.

Every man's wardrobe should store a suitable set of jackets ready for all occasions and complements a variety of outfits, according to luxury fashion label, Edwin Pireh.

Most importantly, and as with most pieces in fashion, is the fit. Jackets that are tailored to your body shape add an element of class and elegance; do not ever be satisfied with an average fit jacket. Ideally, purchase bespoke jackets or at the very least have your jacket tailored to adjust to your body...and thank me later!

Here are 8 jackets every man's wardrobe should have:

Blazer - A very versatile jacket that's a perfect partner to dress up most looks. Blazers are available in many different materials and styles which make the hunt for the perfect blazer almost impossible. This is one style of jacket that your wardrobe will have many members.

Trench coat - This jacket is designed for the colder seasons and promotes a military feel. The trench is a length between the thigh and knees and a more formal styled coat. Classic colours include black and biege, however with the modern trend of colour; the trench can be seen in yellow, blue, red, green and purple. The trench is a style of jacket where you would have one to three different colours and fabrics in your wardrobe, one most definitely being a raincoat.

Bomber - The ultimate classic casual jacket generally worn during the day. It's that jacket that has puffy sleeves and a body that extends a man's masculinity. Made famous by actors like Steve McQueen and James Dean, this jacket is a real man's man jacket. It's common to see this jacket with thick elastic collars and waist-line. Modern takes of this jacket have seen a smaller collar/waistline and a more fitted look.

Knitted - A thick jacket that says you have style, providing a cosy casual but sophisticated structure. This jacket is more difficult to get right as it's a combination of a cardigan and coat. The tip is to choose details, additions of leather, wooden buttons, shaped collars, hoods etc which will keep your knitted jacket sophisticated and elegant.

Biker - Think of leathers, buckles, zippers and beads. Initially creating a stereotypical 'tough guy' image when in black, modern takes have added colours and fitted looks that make this jacket a very sophisticated jacket. Leather colours like beige, green and blue add an exciting touch to the once 'bad boy' biker jacket.

Hunter - Symbolised by the chess board pattern, this jacket is for the ultimate outdoor man. Popular amongst fishermen, lumberjacks and anyone else that wakes up a 2am! This jacket represents the hard working rugged man. Tip - Add in a beard and beanie/cap!

Safari - Identified by its waist length and multi pocket look, the safari jacket is traditionally in camouflage colours and has moved into the fashionable and masculine, yet functional arena.

Pea - Traditionally in navy blue and made with heavy wool, this 'sailors' style jacket can be dressed up and down making it a very versatile jacket. The styling details apart from the fabric are the large featured buttons made from wood, metal or plastic.
